It's been a fun 17 years. I remember riding my bike by the
Michael's facility on BeraCasa Way in 1989 and thinking WOW! What a
neat gym all that striking red equipment sooo light and bright "what
energy. I would love to be working out in there!!!"
Little did I know that I would become totally entwined with this
facility for the next 17 years; My Home, My Family, My Friends, My
Clients, My Energy, My Career, My Life.
Here was the perfect gym to release my stress of running a
10-store retail operation and to enjoy a little free time with my
then girlfriend and soon to be wife, Deborah. I was so enthralled by
this facility that I wanted Michael P. to enjoy what I did as well
and arranged to have him and his wife Fran become certified SCUBA
divers. They both enjoyed it considerably.
In 1993 I finally did it, I successfully completed three of the
Fitness Institutes personal training courses and the National
Strength and Conditioning Association's (NSCA) personal training
certification. Armed with this knowledge I was ready to train and
change people's outlook on fitness. My philosophy was to work and
train each person as an individual and to take into consideration
each and every ones limitations and goals (Yes! your typical
personal trainer philosophy). Some of my philosophies have changed
over the years but my basic one has stayed the same.
In 1994 when the facility was moved to its present location Penny
Reynolds, the Fitness Director at the time asked me if I would work
with her in the new facility. I gladly said yes. Those early days
were great. We would have orientations with 3 to 5 members at a time
in a brand new larger facility. Things were cut short for about 8
months in 1995 as my career collided with my avocation. In 1996 1
was asked by Andy and Leslie Glickman to become the Fitness Director
of the facility. Timing can be everything in life and I was at that
point in my career where I was ready to take on a new challenge and
do something different. Over the next 10 years I would build my
clientele to where it is today, have three beautiful daughters
(Summer, Autumn and Raine), help to run and maintain a great
facility, come in contact with super members, train alongside some
of the best and most experienced trainers in the business, and work
with some of the nicest people that I can honestly say is family to
me.
I leave behind a lot of friends, great clients, and good times to
relocate to the North Western North Carolina region.
To my present clients Amy and Peter and Mimsy and Karen, Brian
and Barbara, Dennis, Doc, Freddy, Val and Monica, Jim and Becky,
Karen, Marlene and Monica, Robert and Tom and Camille, Marcia,
Mallory and Molly, Grant, Jeri and Marsha, Amy and Lisa and Maura
and Robin, Miriam and Jennifer and Ashley, Sue, Fay, Gayle, RJ and
Susie, Nancy and Mike, Howard, Elana, Jen, Jim N., Karen J., Kara,
Donna, Tasha and Brian, Fred and Marilyn, Stacy, Roxann, Janelle,
and Sharon I say thank you for allowing me to be part of your lives,
and to the owners Michael P, Fotis, Mike F, Andy and Leslie for
giving me the opportunity to be part of a fantastic facility.
