Perspective
Losing weight,
and eating
healthier,
should not
require massive
power, always
being hungry,
and restricting
foods. Counting
points, eating
pre-packaged
foods, or
taking appetite
suppressants are
temporary fixes
and are
not the
answer.
The Non-Dieting
approach to
nutrition
counseling focuses
on which
foods digest
and absorb
slowly, do
not raise
blood sugar
abruptly and
which foods
reduce appetite
and cravings.
It truly
is as
simple as
the time
to learn
a little
of the
science behind
clinical
nutrition that
commercial
weight loss
programs, most
diet products,
and books
just cant
accomplish.
Before going
to a
party one
could ask,
am I
really hungry
and do
I desire
a large
volume of
food, or
do I
just require
a variety
of different
flavors and
textures from
foods. In
America we
are brainwashed
to require,
huge volumes
of food
with the
richness (mostly
fat and
sugar which
is inexpensive
to farm,
manufacture, or
serve). One
has to
pick your
battle. If
you require
richness, then
eat something
11/2
hours before
you attend
the party.
A nutritionist
will take
the time
to measure
metabolic rate,
customize a
program based
on your
muscle mass,
age sex
and goals
whether you’re
following a
macrobiotic diet
or always
eating out!
Its like
a sliding
scale
carbohydrate program
based on
your metabolism,
your medical
needs and
your lifestyle.
It truly
is a
Lifestyle Not
A Diet.
The goal
is to
be able
to implement
a customized
program for
your personal
and medical
needs and
be able
to eat
satisfying and
healthy foods
in restaurants,
at home
and on
the run
and not
feel deprived.
From a
nutrition and
disease,
standpoint, it
is paramount
to have
the correct
balance between
carbohydrates,
fats and,
proteins.
This balance
is important
as it
relates to
food cravings
and food
satisfaction (satiety)
and blood
sugar management.
The total
amount of
calories you
eat are
important,
however, more
importantly, if
you balance
the correct
percentages
and amount
of the
macronutrients
along with
muscle mass
and activity
level then
food cravings
go away.
