FOODS THAT KO CANCER
By Lynn Allison
Your kitchen holds the key to slashing your risk of
cancer, say leading docs.
Eating the right foods can help prevent cancer, asserts
Dr. Dr. Phillip Minton, MD of Nevada whose book The Immortality Enzyme,
breakthroughs you can use against Aging, Cancer and Heart Disease. (And these same
changes in your diet can also help you fight other illnesses such as heart disease and
stroke.
Minton suggests the best defense against cancer is adding more
fruits and vegetables to your diet and reducing manmade foods and fatty meats.
Plant foods prevent colon cancer and fish oil
helps build the immune system to resist cancer, Minton explains. Cruciferous
vegetables such as broccoli, cabbage and cauliflower are rich in sulfur and indoles,
natural cancer fighters.
An apple a day CAN keep cancer away, asserts the doc.
Apples are rich in polyphenols that help cancer cells revert back to normal.
Noted expert Dr. Susan Lark says shes been advising her
patients to drink green tea for years as a cancer fighter.
Green teas ability to prevent cancer has been well
documented, Lark says. It has been particularly effective against cancers of the
stomach, pancreas, lung cancers and breast cancer.
Heres how you can protect your body against cancer:
Breast
Drink three glasses of milk dailylow fat is best. Norwegian
researchers showed that milk drinkers have half the risk of breast cancer. Experts say
that milk contains linolineic acid, which inhibits the growth of cancer cells.
Lungs
Green tea and tomatoes are two helpful foods. The lycopene
in tomatoesincluding ordinary ketchup and tomato sauce is a powerful cancer
fighter. Experts say it can reduce your risk by a fourth. Lycopene also helps prevent
mouth, prostate and stomach cancers.
Cervix
Cruciferous veggies like broccoli, cabbage and
cauliflower help protect your cervix because they contain indoles, powerful antioxidants
which protect the cells against cancer.
Colon
Eat fish twice weekly says a study
published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. Researchers found that people who
ate fish two times a week had a whopping 50 percent less risk of colon cancer. The calcium
in bony fishlike sardines, salmon and anchoviesare the best. Plus, youll
get the added benefit of preventing osteoporosis!
Bladder
Go low fat and add onions and garlic to your diet. Experts
havent pinpointed why a low fat diet helps prevent bladder cancer, but many docs
believe that a lower fat diet makes it easier for your bladder to get ride of waste. And
drink LOTS of pure water and green tea!
Stomach
Garlic has been proven to reduce the risk
of stomach cancer say leading researchers. A study based in China revealed that people who
ate garlic daily had little or no incidence of the dreaded disease. Radishes can do the
job, too, say German experts who report that people who eat three radishes several times a
week had a 35 percent lower risk of cancer. Dr. Lark also recommends adding green tea to
your anti-cancer shopping list.
Mouth
Eating lots of yummy sweet potatoeswhich are rich in vitamin
Acan not only reduce your risk of mouth cancer but also reverse early stages of the
disease. Researchers in both Finland and Norway say these inexpensive veggies are
effective oral cancer fighters. The tubers also contain beta-carotene, another powerful
antioxidant. Carrots, red peppers and mangos have a similar anti-cancer benefit.
Skin
Tea, especially green tea, can help prevent skin cancer. At least
three cups a day can reduce your risk of squamous cell cancer say experts at the
University of Arizona. Tea is high in antioxidants that act against skin cancer cells.
Adding a dash of lemon to you tea doubles the cancer fighting power by adding a substance
d-limonene.
Ovaries
Five carrots a week may cut your chance of getting
ovarian cancer by half says brand new research from the Brigham Womens Hospital in
Boston. The reason is the concentrated amount of alpha carotene in these tasty veggies
that also protect against lung cancer, say the experts. Pumpkin and cantaloupes also
contain alpha carotene.
