The secret to success in any business is
staying focused,
Brooklyn-born Mackler says. And in this case, the secret of
success in the fitness industry is to focus on the benefits.
The more people know about the rewards of working out, the
more motivated theyll be to enter your doors.
Mackler, who has opened fitness clubs around the globe, says he
never tires of talking about his profession.
God, no, he says. It gets more exciting every day.
We have so much more information today than when I started with Jack Lalanne and his clubs
thirty years ago.
Mackler reveals he had his own battle of the bulge to cope with when
he lived in Hong Kong.
I was opening up a health club in China, he recalls.
And the Chinese entertain a lot in restaurants because their homes are so small. So
every meal was a virtual feast starting with a breakfast buffet.
Well I gained 35 pounds and when I returned to the States
actually had to put myself on a fitness program. I pumped up the cardio, watched my diet
and lost 38 pounds in six months.
Mackler says he joined MBS because he realized our club is a
first class operation.
Its got a specific personality that you notice from the
moment you walk in the door, he observes. The front desk people, the trainers,
and the owners all have that deep rooted personality that spells commitment to their work
and their members.
Mackler hopes to expand our facilities without ever compromising the
quality that marks MBS.
Consistency is crucial, he says. Youve got
to give people what they want at a fair price and be consistent about it.
Mackler looks forward to meeting MBS members and urges them to
approach him with their comments and suggestions.
Life is about choice, says Mackler who admits his
workout motivation is his intense love for good food. I want to help people choose
the path to health because they want to look good and feel good. I want them to choose a
healthy life style so that they will live a quality life.
Study after study shows that exercise contributes to your
health not only physically but mentally too. Who wouldnt want to be healthy and
happy? That is the message I want to spread here in South Florida.
