Why do some members brusquely shout their number at
the front desk staff ignoring the fact that the front desk person may be helping other
members?
Why do other members see how simple the check-in process is when
they bring their cards on a regular basis?
Why do some members completely disregard the front desk staff and
just walk in?
Why is it so easy for some members to carry cards?
Why does it seem such a hassle to others?
The answers to these questions are varied. On one hand there are
members that see how simple it is to bring a card and they notice that it's just no big
deal to bring their card.
While on the other hand there are those who state, “they are
running late” or maybe they are having a bad day. I'm sure these are all valid
answers. However the clubs policy has always been to require the use of cards.
Why?
Security--We need to insure that only members enter and use the
club. All others entering must pay a fee. After all wouldn't it bother you to know that
while your are paying dues, anyone could just walk in without checking in and use the club
for free.
Speed--The card swipe system is quick and efficient. When the
club gets busy it is especially important. Our front desk staff has a great deal to do for
our members like helping with purchases, providing info, and answering phones. It effects
the whole process when they have to stop and check someone in who could have just swiped
their card.
For some time now, a few of our members have ignored this policy. It
has gotten to a point where we need to strictly enforce the use of membership cards.
As a result we will be taking the following action:
As of May 15, 2000 we will be requiring the use of membership cards.
For those members who do not have cards there will be a period from
April 15 thru May 15 only, where replacement cards will be made free of charge.
After May 15 there will be a $5.00 replacement fee assessed.
Members who fail to bring cards may be denied access to the club and
at the very least will be asked to stop and wait for all those with cards to check in.
After which they will have to verify the information in their
account before they are permitted to enter the club.
